ERA-AGE Call on Active and Healthy Ageing Across the Life Course published
Call for multidisciplinary research on "Active and Healthy Ageing Across the Life Course" now open for applications. Deadline for pre-proposals is 3 October 2011.
The call is dedicated to the achievement of enhanced and healthy ageing and, in particular, to address the major priority established by the AHAIP (Active and Healthy Ageing Innovation Partnership) of a 2 year increase in healthy life expectancy in the European Union by 2020.
Applications are invited from multidisciplinary research groups representing 3 to 5 funding countries.
3 objectives of the call:
1. Generate new knowledge on the biological, clinical, behavioural, social and environmental factors that enable individuals to live actively and healthily into later life.
2. Explore comparatively different models, methods, approaches and good practices in societal responses to increased longevity which emphasise both social inclusion and sustainability.
3. Engage in effective knowledge exchange activities that will assist European and other countries to achieve the goal of increasing healthy life expectancy by 2 years by 2020.
4 priorities of the call:
- How end users of the research will be engaged in the research process, when appropriate.
- What is the potential impact of the research on the European target of increased healthy life expectancy by two years by 2020
- The rapid transfer of research knowledge to policy, practice and/or product development.
- How the comparative potential of European research will be exploited
Funding: Total 4,2 million Euro
While applications will be submitted jointly by groups from several countries, each research group will be funded by the JCRA funding organization respective of their country. Since eligibility criteria and funding rules may vary between partner organizations, applicants are required to contact their national funding organization and confirm eligibility matters and application rules before submitting an application.
Projects may be funded for three years. Funding is expected to start in October 2012.
