Thematic issues: Since aging starts at birth, if not earlier, it is essential to include the entire developmental perspective in the different research questions. This is evident for Health and Performance, Social Systems and Welfare, Work and Productivity, Education and Learning, Housing, Urban-Rural Development & Mobility. Healthy aging is related to the conditions in early life; resources of the family and living conditions in general, including, housing, quality and availability of health care, the welfare systems and of course education. Therefore it seems motivated to have a life-span perspective in the sense that aging is understood as to a great extent dependent on early life conditions and experiences.   Legal issues: Sweden has for the time being legal restrictions to participate in true common pot mechanisms. Our Ministry for Research and Education is working with the issue, and our participation is dependent of this crucial questions to be solved.   In Sweden we have four main research funding organisations, that, in the future might participate in Joint programming initiatives within their areas of responsibility. It is the three Research Councils, Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research (FAS), the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agriculture Sciences and Spatial planning (Formas), the Swedish Research Council (VR) and Vinnova (the Swedish Agency for Innovation systems).
