Final Seminar ‘Welfare, Wellbeing and Demographic Change: Understanding Welfare Models’

You are invited to the final seminar of MYBL’s second joint transnational call entitled ‘Welfare, Wellbeing and Demographic Change: Understanding Welfare Models’. The following five projects, which started in 2016, will present their (prefinal) results: AgeWellAccounts, CIRCLE, CREW, EMMY & WELTRANSIM.

The final seminar is scheduled for Wednesday 7 October, 9.00-13.00 CET.You can find the draft programme outline for the seminar on our website. Presentation Fast Track ‘Ageing and Care Technologies’

Over the last months a group of experts from six countries have been working on a common vision of what constitutes good care and on the question ‘what contribution can (or cannot) technology make to that good care for older people?’ Penholder Anne Meißner will write a synthesis report based on all national reports and feedback from societal stakeholders operating in the field of care and technologies. The result will be a report on Ageing and Care Technologies in Europe, including messages to inform policy on the contribution of technology to good care.

The presentation of the Fast Track is scheduled for Wednesday 7 October, 15.00-18.00 CET. A programme outline and connection details to join the online event will follow in September.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION

European Partnership ‘Transforming Health and Care Systems’

The European Commission recently published all the Horizon Europe partnership proposals for the period 2021-2024 and has contacted the EU member states which have indicated interest to clarify their commitment. Among them is the European partnership on Transforming Health and Care Systems in which MYBL has a special interest. The general objective of the partnership is to ensure the transition towards more sustainable, resilient, innovative and high quality people-centred health and care systems. The current COVID-19 crisis shows the importance of this partnership and such a system.

In Autumn the level of support for this and other partnerships will be known and the Commission will make a decision about its integration in the first Horizon Europe work programme.

Report on Demography and Democracy

The European Commission adopted on 17 June 2020, a report on the Impact of Demographic Change. The report is part of the work of Directorate General of Democracy and Demography and presents the drivers of long-term demographic change and the impact it is having across Europe. It also highlights the links between demographic structures and the impact and recovery potential from the crisis. The report kick-starts the work on impacts of demographic change and provides the foundation for the upcoming Green Paper on Ageing and Long-term Vision for Rural Areas.
