Activities in JPI MYBL are designed following the general research and innovation (R&I) cycle. New activities are taken up as a new stage is reached and new activities are developed and enter their own R&I cycle in an iterative approach.

The exploration of current knowledge made the first step from the initial JPI-MYBL vision paper to the Scientific Research Agenda (SRA). After the SRA was launched in April 2014, the focus of activities has moved to the development of strategies for alignment of national research programs, the implementation of joint activities and to the fostering of public engagement, which includes the dissemination of the SRA and stakeholder involvement in all stages of the R&I cycle.
